Everywhere people celebrate Christmas in their own way, but the traditions in some countries are similar to others. But how does the Christmas party wake up?
Christmas is the feast of the birth of Jesus Christ. In the early Christian era, the birth of Christ was commemorated on January 6. The first time Christmas was celebrated, as we know, was in Rome in 335, and the main festival started on December 25, after Christmas Eve. Therefore, some countries celebrate December 24 as well.
Why it is no longer January 6 is because of the name change of the Roman solstice. This is mainly around Christmas.
Since the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church celebrates Nicholas at the beginning of the Advent season on December 6. Even then Nicholas was the bearer of gifts for good children.
Christmas is a public holiday in many states. In some countries, such as Germany, Austria or Switzerland, you have several days of vacation. Christmas is one of the three main festivals of the church, in addition to Easter and Pentecost.
Christmas is generally celebrated with family or friends. They go to church, eat good food together, it is often roast turkey with different garnishes, and for dessert you eat Christmas cookies. After that they exchange gifts. For example, people in the United States send Christmas cards to family, friends, and family. They often take a picture of the whole family and print this for personalized Christmas greeting cards. The custom of giving gifts to children at Christmas was started around 1535 by Martin Luther as an alternative to the practice of administering the offering on St. Nicholas Day, to attract children's interest to the birthday of Jesus Christ. In Catholic families, children received their gifts for a long time on St. Nicholas' Day.
But someday there were also old and new customs from different origins, for example:
People from all over the world decorate their houses. Inside and outside they have many Christmas lights, a Christmas tree, an Advent wreath, statues of Santa Claus, snowmen, and reindeer. Or they prepare delicious attractive food like gingerbread houses. It depends on the country you are in, but between September and December the cities are completely decorated with lampposts, Christmas trees and much more. On Christmas Eve, they leave some cookies and a glass of milk outside on their veranda as a snack for Santa. During the Christmas season you can watch various series, movies and listen to Christmas music. There are also some Christmas stores that only sell Christmas decorations and toys throughout the year.
The funny thing is that people often spend Christmas holidays. The difference is that some people want to go to the snow because it is hot in their country and some people like warm Christmas because it is cold in their country.
The idea of charity increases aid worldwide during the Christmas season. Many people donate money, food, clothing, or toys. But there are also many volunteers who help people with different services.
One of the most important times of the year is approaching. The end of the calendar brings us moments of celebrations, greetings and family reunions. In many places the tradition is to send and receive Christmas postcards. Given the high flow of these messages circulating on the internet, experts warn users to be alert to possible fraud
