From a million players to the leak of its source code. The final months of the CS: GO world were hectic. The popular first-person shooter game broke the record for simultaneous users reaching the million people online and, almost a month later, was the victim of a major security attack
CS: GO is without a doubt one of the phenomena of our time. But the popular first-person shooter game inherits its success from the legendary Counter-Strike 1.6 game. For the most nostalgic fans comes great news since it is now possible to experience the traditional Valve title direct from browsers, without installations and with just a click
The number of cheaters in Counter-Strike has sharply increased even since Counter-Strike: Global Offensive made the game free to play back at the end of 2018. It is noted that creating a new account with the purpose of cheating is easier than ever now that one does not have to pay to play the game. However, CS:GO just released the so called Trusted Mode in order to prevent future cheating. The system is programmed to detect third-party software running in the background, therefore blocking it from interacting with the game and booting players out of CS until the “incompatible files” are closed. CS:GO will be launched in Trusted Mode by default, which in theory should prevent cheaters from playing. An “Untrusted Mode” will be left as an option where players won’t be able to join VAC-secured servers and their trust factor will be reduced
It was recently confirmed on Twitter that a Chinese gamer has paid a crazy amount of money for a particular weapon's skin. The rare skin StatTrak M4A4 Howl with 4 iBUYPOWER Katowice 2014 stickers from the 2014 CS:GO tournament in Katowice, Poland cost $100 000. Such exclusive skins tend to be extremely valuable to hardcore collectors, thus possessing 4 of these rare stickers could justify the price. The purchase is record-smashing in CS:GO as the previous record was set by a player who bought a Souvenir skin for the price of $61 000 which also featured a very rare sticker on it. The most interesting part is that the record-breaking collector has already listed his Howl for sale at $130 000. Taking into consideration that the news of the new record has reached a great number of loyal players, another massive sale is highly expected
The world of CS: GO players is very competitive. The company is constantly in charge of keeping the competition as clean and fair as possible. The problem is that it can happen that the tools to protect the server from cheats bring complications to the operation of the computer in general. This happened in the last update
Ever since Trusted Mode was launched in CS:GO in an attempt to prevent future cheating in the game, players have been reporting problems such as huge lag spikes and disconnections. However, users can fix their game by disabling “run as administrator” and all third-party software, lowering their mouse polling rate to 500 as well as rolling back CS:GO to the previous patch
