Speaking of providing information about the world, one of the great advantages of Dark Souls 3 can be found by talking to each NPC several times. Keep talking to them until they start to repeat themselves. Similar to the item descriptions, NPCs will guide you to secret areas, give you items, and in Dark Souls 3 dialoguing with certain NPCs can also offer different endings.

Beef up. If you neglect the blacksmith, you will have a bad time. The Blacksmith can expand and reassign your Estus flask, add status effects to your weapons, and most importantly, reinforce them. If you collect Titanite Shards, visit the man in the Firelink Shrine and he will upgrade your equipment. Usually, it won't carry as many souls either, so it's generally worth your time.

If your gear load is high, your cast will be slower and heavier and it will take longer for your stamina to recharge. While equipping armor and weapons, be sure to keep an eye on your loadout of equipment.

Read the messages that other players usually leave and you should be concerned about what some of them say. Texts can be really useful, while others may lead to your death. I have a message on the edge of a cliff that says: treasure underneath, we probably wouldn't recommend walking to the sea. You can usually assess how reliable one of these messages is by seeing how many evaluations it has.

Before blowing up one of the heavy bottles, wait after defeating the first bosses to visit this decrepit old man on the throne and converse with him. Basically you can exchange these souls for one of two unique items. Note that you can only choose one per play for each of the souls you collect.

The co-op is something of a last resort in Dark Souls, after a dozen failed attempts, then it might be time to consider calling on the phone to ask for help. Hosting a cooperative game is pretty easy as long as you are logged into the servers. You may notice some summoning signs on the ground and all you have to do is examine it and someone will come to your aid.

If you want to help someone else, you will need an item called a white sign soapstone. It is important to note that you will only match the brand with someone who is roughly on the same level as you and bosses tend to get a bit tougher when you have someone by your side.
