Year 2013 and Playstation 3 is nearing its end. The Naughty Dog company, responsible until that moment for, among other successes, the Crash Bandicoot franchise launches The Last of Us. And unintentionally (or perhaps yes) opened the new stage of video games to come.
Year 2020, in December the fifth generation of Sony consoles goes on sale, and once again, the studios that at this point already have the Uncharted saga behind them, delight us with the premiere of The Last of Us Part II. The last great work in the world of games and applications before ushering in the new era.
When playing The Last of Us Part II we will find ourselves again in a post apocalyptic world full of dangerous creatures and enemies. We will return to the story of Joel and Ellie but our main character this time will be Ellie who will embark on a path with revenge as a guide. Without a doubt, the highest point of the delivery is its script, story and development of the facts. And while it is the highlight of the exclusive PlayStation title, it does not overshadow the other advantages of The Last of us Part II such as its gameplay, graphics and soundtrack.
The Naughty Dog product maintains the standards that all of the firm's installments have demonstrated when it comes to handling the characters. Although The Last of Us Part II does not present great news in this regard, it is still excellent in this matter. In fact, the mechanics of action and attacks on enemies are one of the most surprising elements of the game since every time we advance before an enemy, the violence and pain that our victim feels are highlighted in a way not seen before in video games. In addition, both the movements that are to target and those that are intended to cover us are perfectly achieved and provide a very good experience. In turn, the artificial intelligence of the enemies is very good.
By downloading The Last of Us Part II we will be part of a solid and well-crafted story that will also give the player the opportunity to explore the world where Ellie's adventures take place. Similar to what Naughty Dog did in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, there are moments in the title that are governed by the laws of sandbox or open-world games. This gives us the chance to go through and explore the maps in the way that we like the most. Also, throughout the whole story there are a lot of extra objects to find that expand the information of the universe in which the story takes place.
In addition, as additional content and for those who are looking for a greater number of challenges once the experience that lasts about 25-30 hours is finished, at the end of the main campaign the alternative of playing everything again is unlocked but with improved weapons and equipment such as we finished the story the first time. Unfortunately, The Last of Us Part II does not have the option of online multiplayer.
In terms of graphics and soundtrack, both are at the excellent level that the product has. The visual section manages to squeeze the possibilities of PlayStation 4 to the maximum, leaving a video game with a quality that has not been seen in previous installments and probably marks the starting point of what will come in 2021 from the new consoles. The cinematic scenes are included in the game with great fluidity and the great work of the transitions between the moments of animation and dialogue to those of game is maintained. As for music, it has original pieces by the renowned musician Gustavo Santaolalla that accompany what happens perfectly.
While it is possible to highlight some points that The Last of Us Part II could adjust, we are facing an almost perfect delivery. Naughty Dog seems to assume, and without any kind of fear, the responsibility of closing one era and opening another in terms of high-quality video games.
The game that set fire to 2020 receives a significant dose of new content. Starting in August, The Last of Us Part II will have more options to re-enjoy the story. They are more complex and challenging alternatives. In addition, a user on the internet leaked images of what will be the supposed multiplayer option
