As the internet became more popular, an entire marketing and merchandising market grew around it. The coexistence between users, digital merchants and browsers (the terrain where these two meet) continues to present tensions and the search for good online experiences is constant.
Google Chrome has the characteristic of presenting a simple and safe platform to use. In addition, the most important internet browser search software actively works to offer the best experience in terms of regulation and blocking of ads with the aim of facilitating the user experience.
One of the latest news about Google Chrome refers to what will be the regulation of heavy ads in the browser from August. The decision accompanies measures that were previously taken with the organization Coalition for Better Ads.

Work together

One of the important news about Google Chrome was the adoption in February 2020 of the criteria of the Coalition for Better Ads to configure the ads that are seen in YouTube videos.
The Coalition for Better Ads is an organization that, according to its official site, is a job between online media companies and major international trade associations. Entities seek to improve the user experience with ads on the internet. The group has as one of its purposes to establish standards for online advertising notices. The Coalition for Better Ads conducted studies with more than 66,000 people to develop in 2017 a series of standards related to online advertising that were adopted by a number of companies in the internet industry.
Google was one of these firms and, in February 2020, it published on its official blog that it was adopting the new measures related to video ads that the Coalition for Better Ads established after an investigation involving 45 thousand users. The decision forced many advertisers to have to adapt to the new categories.

A new decision

Seeking to continue improvements to the user experience with ads on Google Chrome, on May 14, 2020, the navigation system reported on a new measure it would take in relation to online ads, once again in collaboration and following the standards of the Coalition for Better Ads.
The news about Google Chrome and the announcements it considers "heavy" refers to the fact that the company detected that there are advertising campaigns that can consume users' resources without them being aware of them. Unknown leaks may be from browsing or battery data from the devices you are browsing.
To control the excessive use of these consumer resources, Google Chrome will limit the information that a notice may use. If the advertising exceeds the indicators established by the navigation platform, the campaign will not be displayed and instead an image will be seen informing that the notice has been removed.
Without going into technical details, to classify the notices that will be removed, Google Chrome carried out studies in which they measured the weight of the ad (determined for example by the size of the images it has) with the time it takes to appear and how useful the user device use. Thus, they discovered that only 0.3% of online ads are considered "heavy" according to their indicators, but at the same time they represent 27% of the use of network data and 28% of use of people's devices.

Time to prepare

The news about Google Chrome and heavy ad regulation will force many advertisers to review their campaigns. Knowing the need for changes, Google reported that the measures will be taken in late August to give time to make the necessary changes.
With these changes, says Marshall Vale, Manager of Google Chrome who signs the report, from the firm they seek to help people have good experiences when browsing, both on the screen and with what happens behind it.

The decision to regulate ads in Google's browser adds to the measures that favor people when it comes to controlling or blocking ads in Google Chrome. Security and simplicity are characteristics that users of the program value and with the action that will be taken from August with heavy campaigns, Google Chrome proves to stay active so as not to lose its value.
